Marianne Helweg adapted White's novel for the radio serialization

Written to accompany the radio serialization of the same title, produced by John Cheatle for the BBC. For many years the manuscript was thought to be lost. When it was rediscovered in 1952, a new radio production was mounted by Francis Dillon complete with Britten's music conducted by Walter Goehr.
