A planned third sketch in a series of three, which seemed to have remained incomplete and the manuscript source is now missing. The first is a portrait of Britten's schoolfriend from Gresham's, David Layton (Sketch for strings no. 1 from Aug 1930) and the second a portrait of Britten himself (Sketch for strings no. 2 from Sep 1930).
