Notes

Comprises two earlier works: Fantasia (ca. 1924) and Fantasia in E for violin and piano (ca. 1924). In his handwritten catalogue of works (compiled ca. Jan 1928) Britten has an entry for 'Two fantasias and valse', which comprises this piece (Two fantasies) and Valse in B major (Oct 1925). However, this 'work' does not correspond to a surviving source, and therefore does not have a separate catalogue entry.
