Notes

Written for the Pageant of Magna Carta at Bury St Edmunds Cathedral. The Pageant was held on 10-20 June 1959 and the fanfare (in a recording made by the trumpeters of the Suffolk Regiment) heralded each performance.

In the score the composer suggests that 'the trumpeters should be placed as far apart as possible, even when the Fanfare is performed indoors.'
